Pastoral Council Communications Commission Minutes

September 7, 2006

Elected Council Members:  Dick Martin and Debbie Fish
Commission Members: Dave Adams, Jeanne Brzycki, Ray Fontaine, Steve Forrest, Martha Lofland, Therese Laporte and Anna Donovan (Scribe) - Absent: Ray

1) October Calendar - Dave submitted next month's calendar for review. Important October events include the St. Francis of Assisi Transitus Ceremony on 10/3, the Choir begins new season on 10/7 and the first Session of Generations of Faith begins on 10/14.

2) Posters - Debbie will call Ray to tell him about what posters are needed for October.

3) Pastoral Council List - Ray to complete this list and will send to all members via email.

4) Welcome Packets - Martha reported that she was having the Time and Talent pamphlet xeroxed and that all the completed packets have been given to the rectory.

5) Brochure - We reviewed all the contents of the old brochure to update all the information for the 06-07 year.  Changes include: a) new email: stfrancischurch@charter.net, b) High School Coordinator: Deborah Robinson, c) delete information regarding the Recitation of the Rosary, d) make the necessary changes regarding the Pastoral Council, and e) Anna to call the people listed under certain ministries to make sure that they still wish to serve.

6) St. Francis Book Group - Deb will submit the information.

7) New (possible) things to do - there was some discussion about how, as a Communications Commission, we could get more information out to the parish community.  What would people like to know?  What kind of 'stuff' would be interesting?  Should we try to do an annual report, or a statistical one, on such things as the number of new parishioners, number of children and adults receiving the Sacraments (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Deaths).  There are so many parishioners doing such good things, how can they be recognized?  Should we do a survey and ask for comments?   There was a consensus regarding the need to get information into the bulletin about the various Pastoral Council Commissions.

8) Other:  Steve shared some information from the Tuesday Pastoral Council Meeting.
