Communications Commission Minutes

May 4, 2006

Elected Council Members:  Dick Martin and Debbie Fish
Commission Members: Dave Adams, Jeanne Brzycki, Ray Fontaine, Steve Forrest and Martha Lofland, Anna Donovan (Scribe)

1) Welcome Packets:  Martha reported that she delivered ten more completed packets to the rectory office and now there are no more Time and Talent brochures.  (Anna made a mental note to get them done!).

2) Parish Council Nomination and Election Process:  Jeanne reported that 21 ballots were submitted and a total of 45 people were nominated, which is about average from years past.  The good news is that included in the 45 names were new names that have not been nominated before which made us all happy - more parishioners interested in serving as Parish Council members is a good thing. Jeanne called the chairs of the Family Life, Spiritual Life and Faith Development Commissions and gave them the names of the nominees to be called and asked if they would be willing to have their names placed in nomination. Then the bios and pictures need to be submitted to Jeanne by May 12 so that she can finalize the Nominee Information Sheet.  Anna will be responsible for getting 600 copies of the Nominee Sheets ready to be inserted into the church bulletin on May 20 (Martha and Anna to do).

Elections will take place on June 3 and 4.  The following Commission members will be responsible for handing out the ballots before each Mass:

4:00 pm - Dick Martin and Dave Adams (?)
8:00 am - Jeanne Brzycki and Martha Lofland
10:30 am - Debbie Fish and Anna Donovan

Steve will help at the Mass that he is a Lector.  Ray and Dave will help also at whatever Mass they attend (were not present at this meeting to volunteer, but they are always willing and happy to help).

Debbie and Anna will count the ballots on the evening of June 4 and will call the winners to congratulate them and ask them to please attend the transitional meeting on Tuesday, June 6 at 7:30 pm in the Tovet Meeting Room of the church.  They will also call the non-elected nominees to thank them for their interest and encourage them to serve on the Commission; someone will contact them.  Also, Anna and Debbie to email the names of the elected members to Fr. Vern, Everett Hume, Steve Forrest and Jeanne Brzycki so they will have this information before the Tuesday meeting.

3) Book Group:  Plans are progressing nicely.  Steve Forrest, Debbie Fish and Anne Werbicki plan to have another meeting.  The books will be announced around May 20.

4) New tri-fold Communications Board:  Debbie to put the information about the Guidelines for using the Board into the church bulletin.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jeanne Brzycki who will represent St. Francis in the Deanery-wide Pastoral Council.  She joins Everett Hume who is our other representative.  These two busy people have given much to our parish - thank you!
