Pastoral Council Communications Commission Minutes
February 8, 2007
Elected Council Members:
Dick Martin and Debbie Fish
Commission Members: Dave Adams, Jeanne Brzycki, Ray Fontaine, Steve
Forrest, Martha Lofland, and Anna Donovan (Scribe)
1) March Calendar -
Since Dave was on vacation, all members present discussed the upcoming parish
events for March and checked each other's notes which were gleaned from
Tuesday's Parish Council meeting. The major discussion was about the
Parish Mission scheduled for Sunday, March 18 through Thursday, March 22. An
email from Kathy Abraham, a member of the Spiritual Life Commission, outlined
the main themes of each day of the Mission and requested that our Communications
Commission have articles submitted to both the Sentinel and the Catholic
Observer. Anna to submit the articles for publication. Jeanne said
that she would be responsible for getting all the March calendar information to
Dave (who was on vacation in Florida but said that he would do the calendar -
thank you, Dave! - always going above and beyond the call of duty).
2) Posters - Ray was asked to have a special poster made regarding the
Parish Mission to be posted on our Communications Board by Ash Wednesday.
3) Welcome Packets - Jeanne made 100 newly designed web cards to be put
inside of all the Welcome Packet folders. They were given to Martha to use
as needed.
4) Other: The subject of communication was discussed.
Many new ministries and events in the parish have either just recently started
up or are probably unknown because of the lack of publicity. How to
rectify the problem? It was noted that the Communications Commission
cannot publicize articles if the information is not given to them, but how can
that be resolved? Should someone write a short article after each Parish
Council meeting for the Bulletin? Should one Commission be the focus each
month? Should there be an annual end-of-the year report? No decision
was made but everyone realizes this is an on-going problem.
Next meeting: Thursday, March 8, 2007, 7:30pm at Dick Martin's house.
